Target injuryCARE 1300 early intervention program
Early intervention can make a significant difference to the severity of an injury. InjuryCARE 1300 is an early intervention program used by Target, to provide injured team members with quick access to medical advice. The service was redesigned in July 2014, to include nurse triage services, as well as a network of occupationally-focused doctors and physiotherapists, through a centralised call centre.
An injured team member can now speak to a nurse on the phone to receive personalised advice for work-related injuries, which supports our team members to self-manage their injuries where clinically appropriate. Injured team members can also book InjuryCARE medical appointments directly on the phone, eliminating paperwork. These changes make it quicker and easier to seek professional medical advice, without needing to travel away from the workplace.
Since it was launched, there has been a high take-up for this voluntary program, with 75 per cent of injured team members consulting a nurse through this service rather than seeking treatment from a doctor.
This year, 37 per cent of injured team members who used the InjuryCARE 1300 program were able to self-manage their injury within the workplace with the advice of a nurse, without the need to consult a doctor.
