Students gain industry insights and training at WesCEF
Student mentoring forms an important part of industry training at WesCEF.
Local students and graduates are benefiting from training and development opportunities at Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy and Fertilisers (WesCEF), with hundreds of employees and trainees participating in training and development programs this year.
Participants have included trainees and apprentices from local high schools and TAFEs, university graduates, and employees undertaking professional development courses.
These training and development initiatives are supported, and often facilitated, by strong, long-term partners of WesCEF, including the Kwinana Industries Council (KIC) through its multifaceted Education Development Program.
This year, the program has enabled more than 100 students from 17 local high schools to tour WesCEF’s Kwinana-based facilities and gain an insight into the variety of job opportunities available in industry. In addition, the program has assisted a number of students to gain practical work experience in the form of school-based traineeships at WesCEF and its businesses.
WesCEF has been a strong supporter of the KIC’s Education Development Program since its inception in 2012.
